Big calls from AI leaders to put a pause on AI came about again this week with OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and others coming together. Some in our community put their thoughts together on this firstly Noah Yim from The Australian https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/ai-poses-risk-of-extinction-warn-industry-leaders/news-story/1fdc1030037dd60fb3813436e8538a9d

Mark from NotCentralised also shared some thoughts on it here:

The full statement is here: https://www.safe.ai/statement-on-ai-risk#open-letter

This all fits into the overall AI and tech change fear-mongering that goes on in the media and there’s a great take on this from Michael Kollo

As well as this where he highlights too on the need for better discussions about this topic

Michael Wang from the community also created this article on the revolving role of the analyst. Check it out here https://cfas.org.au/2023/05/chatgpt-and-the-evolving-role-of-the-analyst/

ChatGPT learning how to give positive feedback to itself based on showing it’s working? It’s pretty damn good if you take a look here at this new paper OpenAI put out

Are you using ChatGPT Premum? One of the plugins you should check out is called Noteable. Check out what it can do for data analysis here:

The movie HER is coming closer to real-life (as expected) with all the latest AI innovations coming. Here’s a take on it from Jason, one of our DSAI community members

Great to see community member Raymond Sun get featured in The Chainsaw for this piece of work of an online AI Regulatory tracker — https://thechainsaw.com/business/sydney-programmer-ai-tracker-australia/

AI making movies? Well there’s this weird 70s looking piece that boggles the mind. It’ll no doubt get better

A lot of talk about Adobe last week and it certainly looks like a gamechanger with what they’re able to do — check this out

Also last week, AI was the feature on 60 Minutes which approached it with some scepticism

Congratulations are in order for the businesses that won awards at The Finnies (by Fintech Australia) last week. More here https://www.thefinnies.org.au/

Continuing the awards season, it’s our very own Raymond Sun with the Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 award win
