What could it be?

It was the greatest fest of the year i.e. Devfest 2019 organised by Google Developers Group and Women Techmakers in Chandigarh. Now most of us don’t know -

What is Google Developers Group?

What is Women Techmakers?

What is Devfest?

First we will talk about Google Developers Group this can also be termed as technical community having a group of developers who are interested in Google’s Developer Technology, everything from Android to Chrome and other Developer APIs,App engines and many more.

Women techmakers is a women-centric community whose aim is to bridge the gender gap in technical field. WTM is focused specifically on bringing together women in the local developer community to teach, learn, code and network in order to boost the confidence of women’s in technical field and to guide them in right direction

This Group organize’s many meetups in which the people get an opportunity to meet up with developers who have same interest in technology. A meetup is an event in which a wide range of discussion is done on the technical topics and where the skills of a person is enhanced by hand on workshops. These meetups where a session is given on upcoming technologies and google developers technologies is called Devfest.

On 28th September 2019,GDG Devfest Punjab organised it’s biggest event in The Lalit Chandigarh. The registrations of the event were started around a month ago. 10 days after a confirmation mail was sent to people in order to tell them that are confirmed for the event. The registered candidates were advised to reach the venue at 9 am sharp. The entire aura was filled with great enthusiasm and energy. After confirming registration at the desk all the attendees were given identity card, notepad and a pencil in order to note everything down.

Meanwhile everywhere you look, you will find everyone either to learn or to share or both. Few peoples at the photo booth were waiting to get their pictures clicked. A large amount of volunteers were present in order to help the attendees and in order to guide them about the venue where the session was going to take place.

The session started with a welcome keynote by Sonakshi Shukla and Tushar Srivastava followed by a community introduction by Viraj Singh(co-organiser GDG Jalandhar) and Kamal Vaid(organiser GDG Chandigarh). Then came Nitika Gandhi (The Guru of ML), she delivered a lightning talk on ML by giving the real life application of ML and how it is helping to solve the main real time problems.

Then the session was proceeded by Pawan Kumar (codepur ke hero) who talked about flutter and flutter of web.In his session he discussed about the future of flutter, it’s usage and it’s applications in real life. After this a tea break was given in order to refresh the attendees and to refill them with great energies to learn great things.

Then the session moved forward with some technical talks in which the attendees were enlightened about various technologies- one of my favourite !

1- Hey Google,Turn On light by Jaldeep Asodiya- A great speaker which was full of knowledge and energy. He shared his great knowledge on actions of google and his session was very useful for the people who had keen interest in the field of IOT (Internet Of Things). He shared his knowledge over how to control home appliances using android mobiles and Google Assistant Applications. He also enlightened the attendees about how to start with Android things.

2- Supercharging your Idea by Prajyot Mainkar- This was the best session for e because the session was full of knowledge, fun, happiness. He is truly a great “Stand Up Comedian of GDG”. He shared his tips that how we can turn our ideas into startups and become an entrepreneur. He also shared his views on what are the mistakes that people generally do during startups so that if anyone wants to be an entrepreneur doesn’t repeat the same mistakes. He also gave some of his views on “TINDER”. He was such a charming and interactive personality that everyone enjoyed his session.

The other sessions were also great and all the speakers were very experienced and knowledgeable. Many women oriented sessions were also conducted in order to boost their confidence and to bridge the gap between women and technology. A very great session was also conducted on #iamremarkable in order to empower womens and to build self motivation in an individual. Then, the session was concluded by GDG groups.

A special thanks was given to the entire team of GDG Chandigarh and GDG Jalandhar for organizing such an awesome event. A vote of thanks was given to all the sponsors, speaker and volunteers because of whom this event became such a great success. Meanwhile, all the attendees were still full of enthusiasm as they were going to get t shirts, badges and many more gifts.

I would personally thank Google India for giving a platform to interact and learn. This event helped to make great connections and helped to know more about what is going around the globe and how our technologies are changing day by day.Looking forward for Devfest Punjab 2020.
