Developers Student Club at Chandigarh Group of Colleges is a new member which is creating much hype among the students. As the prime motto for DSC is to create an equilibrium of opportunities to all the students who are curious to know something new, DSC CGC has complied with the same with its very first event. On 23rd of September 2019, DSC CGC organized its very first event under the name “Cloud Day”. The theme of the event was chosen keeping in mind Google’s huge contribution to Cloud technology. The essence of the workshop was to educate all the attendees about the boons of Google Cloud and motivate them to implement this phenomenal technology in their projects.

From the announcement session, we sensed much excitement from the students from all streams. Also, students from other universities like Punjab University joined us. The final registration process was pretty overwhelming with 200+ registrations. As DSC is a club that focuses on student’s participation only, so the entire workshop was solely arranged “by” the students and “for” the students.

The workshop had a kick start with an introduction about Developers Student Club and Women Techmakers by DSC Team Lead, Nand Kishore. In his speech, he motivated the students to join our communities and cleared all the doubts regarding the same.

As the “Sacred Games” fever is still on among the Indian audience and especially binge-watchers like us, we arranged an entertaining Quiz session where all the questions were related to the series. This was definitely the day’s best session in terms of audience engagement.

Next to this, we had invited a Cloud Expert, Mr. Vinay Takhi. With several years of experience from the industry, Mr. Takhi did amuse our students with the extravagant capabilities of the Cloud. He also conducted a practical session on one of the most popular file hosting platform, Dropbox.

We at DSC CGC wanted the entire workshop to be a perfect balance between learning and recreation so our dedicated coordinators designed several brainstorming sessions, like “Guess who am I?” puzzles and Logo Quiz. The winners of these quizzes were also handed over the cash vouchers and exciting goodies.

Followed by the Brainstorming sessions, our coordinators Ravi Rana and Shivangi Dhiman conducted a session where both of them covered the basics of Cloud Computing and the Fundamentals of Google Cloud Platform. Both of them have got certifications under various Cloud service providers and keen knowledge about this field. The students were thrilled by the session which made them put several interesting doubts to our coordinators.

Filling in gaps, we played an exciting Kahoot game and the winners were presented with exciting goodies.

Action on Google was the next session which was conducted by Mritunjay Kumra who along with AoG, explained the virtues of Dialogflow and how Natural Language Processing works at the back end of all voice recognition actions.

The event was wrapped up by elaborating on the Google Cloud Platforms and Qwiklabs. All the attendees were provided links for Qwiklabs with a subscription for one month. There was also a prize worth a free Coursera course involving different specialization on various tech fields for those who would complete the Qwiklab quests first.

“Cloud Day” was the beginning of many such upcoming technical workshops and boot camps where we will try to cover up all the new technologies which will prove to be a life-changing experience for all. DSC CGC aims at achieving excellence in learning and engaging the mass to fruitful real-time products, which we will surely achieve in the upcoming days with patience and hard work.
