Government Jobs For IT Professionals
Central Government, State Government and Public Sector companies require both fresher and experienced software engineers for Government IT departments.
I always feel so strange that despite being in the era of technology and digital governance, we often ignore the huge possibilities of government jobs and opportunities in the field of computer science.

It is not fair to compare the numbers with the number of opportunities in the private sector. Though the numbers are very less but it cannot be neglected.
There are so many government organizations where there are jobs for computer science graduates and people are too ignorant to even know about it.
I would certainly list down a few such jobs as per my knowledge base. I will be dividing the list into two parts :

Public Sector Undertakings :
PSU or Public Sector Undertaking jobs is to get recruited in companies that are wholly or partly owned by central or state government.

Central Government Jobs :
- ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization)
- DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation)
- BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Center)
- NIC (National Informatics Center)
- NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology)
- ICERT (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team)
- STQC (Standardization Testing and Quality Certification)
- NTRO (National Technical Research Organisation)
- C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing)
- IB (Intelligence Bureau ACIO, DCIO)
Apart from the above list if one is interested in teaching sector then Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has PGT Computer Science teacher with a gross salary starting around between 55k to 70k depending on the place of posting.
But the basic eligibility criteria requires a Master degree in CS.
Also, you are always free to proceed towards masters and PhD and get into IITs, NITS, IIITS and other central govt educational institutes as assistant professors.
As per the above list of organizations and also there are many more govt organizations that recruit computer science graduate from time to time.
The recruitment procedure for each of them varies.
Some call you through GATE exam, some conduct their own exam, some recruit via both.
It is also important to mention that recruitment is entirely dependent on vacancies.
Qualifications for Government Jobs :
You must be graduate with Computer science or Information Technology Stream then you are eligible for IT or software jobs in India.
1.B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering or Information Technology.
2.M.C.A. / B.C.A.
3.B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Computer Science or IT or Software
4.Post Graduate Diploma in Computer / IT / Software.
