Jumping to the bright side with Blogging!

Blogging is a vast topic; it comes in a variety of forms. From food to books, and soft skills tips to the latest buzzing technologies, people blog about everything. It’s said that the first blog to be published was Links.net, created in 1994 by Justin Hall, as a place to publish his writing. The site consisted entirely of brief posts, each sharing a link and a few of his thoughts on the content within. Since then, blogging has come a long way. Blogging started as an opportunity for individuals to write diary-style entries, but it has since been incorporated into websites for many businesses, improving personal portfolio’s and even for documentation purposes.

When it comes to students and developers, blogging can be an excellent tool for improving one’s contribution and most importantly, writing skills.

There are many benefits of blogging. We develop much-improved writing skills that stick with us forever. Our thinking muscles will be in continuous development, and we can also develop a better understanding of the world that surrounds us.

There are many reasons why I think that everyone should give a try to blogging.

1. Enhances your Creativity

One of the finest benefits that come as a result of blogging is that it allows us to express and sharpen our creativity. Blogging helps you process the content and connect the dots better and faster. Many specialists often mention the phenomenon of how daily writing (content, thoughts, experiences, fantasies, or anything you want) improves and sharpens your brain’s performance.

By writing about everything you learn, you process the information better. When you write about something, you’re not comfortable with, you try to utilize all the information and write it in your own words.

You should not start with a difficult topic, instead, start with something simple and easy. Try to explain all the information you have learned in your way.

Remember, practice makes you perfect, don’t give up even if initially, you find this process a little bit difficult.

Writing repeatedly on technical topics will eventually make it easier for you to write down your blog.

2. Helps in Documentation

Before you begin writing for an audience, write it for yourself! Many people write blogs for documentation of their projects or to create future reference sheets about some new information they have learned. This is a really good practice that will benefit you in the long run.

Documentation is also a very useful skill when working or collaborating with many people. Suppose you are in a team of 15 people, working on a project. Documenting and keeping track of the progress and the changes made in it with a descriptive document will come in handy to all the team members as now, they will have a clear idea about their progress, how was it done and what should be their next steps.

It may not sound so interesting to you, but, a lot of well-recognized organizations practice this.

Blogging helps you develop such skills and you can also add them to your resume.

3. Actual Knowledge

Sometimes when we start blogging, we are under the impression that we are aware enough of the topic. It is while writing that we come across some questions that create doubt in our knowledge.

Now, we do not want someone to point out flaws in our blog, right? So, rather than thinking of this as a setback, we should focus on the positive aspect of these doubts.

We realize that to explain something we need to get into the details, we need to explain the reasons behind the logic and the concepts. It is only possible when we go through the topics thoroughly and have a clear understanding of them. By revisiting and learning these topics you fix the blind spots in your knowledge.

Also, blogs portray the knowledge you have. It can benefit you when changing jobs and growing your career. It can even help you turn into an expert in a specific field of your work.

4. Updates In-check

To write blogs regularly, we have to keep learning and share it with others. As we know, technology keeps advancing every day, it is important to keep up with it. If we want to stay relevant in the tech-community we must keep ourselves up to date and aware of the novel technologies.

Blogging helps in creating the interest to keep learning and forms a habit to learn new things so that we can share our experiences regularly.

This habit is beneficial even if one does not wish to blog because learning is a process that never stops. In fact, blogging also shows your recruiter that you have a zeal to learn and you will be comfortable with learning new things if required.

5. Contribution to community

Once you get accustomed to blogging, you’ll view yourself as a part of this community. We all often search for resources, articles, blogs, notes, or solutions to our questions and we are most likely to end up on a blog post. We may not realize this but blogs have become a crucial part of our lives. Just imagine if this community had not grown so much, how difficult it would’ve become for us to search for any of the above-mentioned things…

Contributing to the community is a very good thing to do. Though we often amount it to the likes, claps, or comments we receive, the true essence of contribution is the impact and upliftment.

If I was able to convince you to give blogging a shot, a few places you can begin with are Medium, blogger, or create your blog site on WordPress. There are plenty of other resources too that you can explore.
