My experience with #30daysofgooglecloud
30 days of Google Cloud
The cloud campaign was the most anticipated event for the month of September. The 30 Days of Google Cloud was my first event as a core team member, and I was ecstatic to be a part of it. I have no idea how much time had passed between waiting for a confirmation email and obtaining a swags checkout email.
Rakshith B N, Management and PR Lead for 2021 facilitated 30 days of Google cloud at K S School of Engineering and Management. The event began with a facilitator-led introduction to the program, registration, and a discussion about the relevance of cloud computing. 150+ Cloud aficionados attended the event, with 90+ registrations for the program.
I had no idea how it would go because it was my first event. I was concerned about whether I would be able to complete it on time, but thanks to Qwiklabs for providing all of the lab instructions in such a well-organized manner. The instructions were so clear and easy to follow that anyone could complete the labs with a little bit of focus and effort.
The training labs were coupled with YouTube videos about the topic if you get stuck at any checkpoint of the lab. Checkpoints were like tiny jobs or paths to follow in order to reach the goal. The most inspirational component of the lab was that each job was assigned a specific score that would drive the participant to the experiment’s conclusion. It encouraged me to do more, and the more I did, the better it got. To be honest, at one point, completing each lab became an addiction for me, and I would rush through them.
The cloud engineering track included six skill badges that represented the six infinity gems needed to be a cloud engineer, while the data science and machine learning track focused on preparing participants to work with Google Cloud Platform for data science and building Machine Learning models by integrating the ML APIs available on Google Cloud Platform.
The cloud program offers a fantastic opportunity to start your career as a cloud engineer while also improving your computing skills and learning how to use Google’s many tools. So what’s the point of taking a chance like this? Not only does it benefit our careers, but it also qualifies them for a Google Cloud T-shirt and sticker set if they complete a specific track. Participants who complete both tracks will be eligible for the T-shirts linked with each track, as well as a Google cloud bag, a Google sipper bottle, and stickers.
Last but not least, I want to express my gratitude to my facilitator, Rakshith B N, and my lead, Dhanush, for their constant guidance and support, as well as for offering this incredible opportunity.
Thank you, Google Cloud, for putting on such a fantastic event.
