Hey Folks,

It’s so good to see everyone back on campus. With this new academic year, the GDSC KIIT team is glad to announce another one of our initiatives to build a thriving developer community here in KIIT.

We are glad to announce Huddle, our latest effort to increase developer participation in our community.

What is Huddle ?

Until now, most of the technical sessions we conducted had speakers who were members of GDSC KIIT, but from now on, we are opening up our platform to accept technical talks from any student developer in KIIT.

Huddle will be an in-person event conducted once a month where we will be hosting talks submitted by you folks. Each talk will be a lightning talk of 20 minutes max followed by a 10 minute Q&A. We will be having at max 3 of these talks in a single day.

We will be announcing details on the upcoming talks on our social media as and when we announce the upcoming Huddle events.

How to submit a talk ?

You can submit a talk by filling out this form.

After you submit, the team here at GDSC KIIT will be reviewing it and if we love it, we will reach out to you with further logistical details on when and where you can present.

Who can submit a talk ?

Anyone who is currently pursuing a course here in KIIT and has an interesting talk to share.

What kind of talks can I submit at Huddle ?

We are looking for talks around technical topics that are conventionally not discussed in our classrooms, any topic that might interest an audience of student developers.

This could be an introduction to a particular technology you’re good at. Or some interesting paper you recently read. Or something cool you built for the community. Or even an interesting roadmap/journey to get a job or internship.

Just ensure you can finish your talk in 20 minutes or less.

Why should you submit a talk ?

Students can use huddle to discuss their experiences, projects, ideas and so much more. If you are proud of some of your talks, you can share it with potential employers / add it to your resume to show off your technical acumen and communication chops.

If you are someone who is interested in presenting in OSS conferences like KubeCon, GopherCon, React India, RustConf, CppCon etc. this can be a good platform to get feedback on your talk. And later you can polish your talk and submit in bigger conferences.

We plan to grow this into a massive networking opportunity for students in KIIT. As a student attending / presenting, you get a chance to meet folks who are interested in the same things as you are. Knowledge is viral, as more and more people share their ideas via huddle, the closer we get to our dream of building a thriving developer community here in KIIT.

Here are some talks by some amazing engineers for some inspiration
