We have been talking about passion and the importance of it in the world for some time now. We showcased the essence, the history, and the potential it possesses. We tried to negotiate the requirement of a transition to passion. And, most importantly, we tried to highlight what it would be like if we didn’t have passion in our lives.
Finally, we now have the opportunity to showcase our version of a world where passion precedes all else.
Finally, we introduce WeNaturalists.
A place, where nature takes the highest of order. Where naturalists from around the world form the core. Where people in love with nature will feel right at home. A place where individual growth for professionals, enthusiasts, experts, and lovers of nature would be built right in.
We introduce the next evolution in communities.
People. Passion. Possibilities.
We, humans, are hardwired to perform at our best when we have support and people who share similar values as we do. This has been true from the earliest of times. But, in the 21st century, we have somehow lost that ability to truly connect with people who have similar interests as us.
We lost the community aspect of our society at the hands of technology and the traditional social media platforms. With the rapid rise of communication opportunities for people and globalization, we lost the innate sense of belonging that the community had earlier.
For most of humanity, a community defined people from specific geography having similar interests and backgrounds. This, of course, changed when we moved into modernity. Suddenly everyone was able to interact with anyone else in the world. Ideas got shared and people understood that there can be a sea of possibilities and interests to explore in the world.
It was exciting and it was immense for all of us. But, what entailed was a dilution of the core values that formed a community.
It was good until we slowly lost sight of what made us, us.
The overwhelming possibilities and the overall appeal of the new age of communication left us second-guessing our instinctive interests.
In short, we lost sight of what we were truly passionate about.
Passion, as we knew it, became really hard to pursue. It became counterintuitive to focus on the few things that made us happy and felt fulfilling. And because that was the case, we lost the exponential growth possibilities that came along with it.
The cramming of people in a single place called social media didn’t help our cause either. We were left with scores of notifications and pings of ephemeral thoughts. Diluted and exhausted we searched endlessly for the illusive galore of glory that very few achieved in these circles.
It’s time to bring passion back to the forefront of community building, and with it, it’s time to instill true progress for people around the globe.
Passion Is The Glue We Were Looking For All Along

Passion is the essence that forms the foundation of any collective of people. Ever!
If we go deep into the reasons and the formula that forms a community, what we realize is that it is held together by common beliefs and interests. No community, no matter how complex, can sustain in the long run, if there isn’t a common thread that holds everyone together. What we didn’t realize when we were building complex online communities is the very same fact.
We cannot build a community that doesn’t have a common passion and expect it to champion the test of time. Sooner rather than later, the differences within a community will form factions and will die a natural death. Looking at the many online communities we have, it was apparent.
And the best part is that it doesn’t end there. It turns out that passion is required for not just a collective sense of belonging, but it is essential if collectively we aim to grow and progress at an accelerated rate. It is so because there is a basic requirement of sharing, knowledge transfer, career opportunities, and thought leadership required for accelerated growth. And, all these elements won’t come together, if we don’t have a group of people who share a common passion.
The commonality in passion could be anything. It could be a passion for biking, or motoring, or cycling, or surfing, or for that matter, nature. It also doesn’t matter if you have one passion, or if you have multiple passions at the same time. But what matters is that you share the same passion.
And, Dscovr wants to do just that — ‘Create communities based on passion’.
So, Why WeNaturalists? Why Nature?
In many ways, the year 2020 has focused the spotlight on the many flaws we have when it comes to our relationship with nature. There is growing distress in the communities around the world when we see irresponsible growth that we have built for us.
We now know that there is no further room for mass pollution, unsustainable developments, global warming, and biodiversity loss. We now realize that there is a greater price to pay if we don’t get our act together. We are right now in a transition in favor of nature. And, we feel responsible to bring every single nature lover to a place where they feel at home. Where there is hope for a beautiful future.
But, this isn’t the entire story. It’s just a part of the bigger picture. It would be blind to neglect the growth that almost every aspect of our lives has seen over the years, that involves learning from nature. From the development of enzymes that can disintegrate plastic in a matter of days, to AI (Artificial Intelligence) models that mimic the complex intelligence nature has; we have come to realize the riches nature holds.
In more ways than one, creating a destination for people in love with nature felt like the most immediate need.
WeNaturalists is that realization and the address to that need.

In all fairness, there have always been people of nature all over the world. We have always had people who were passionate about nature and called it their purpose in life. What we didn’t have though, is a global destination where these people of nature can come together and form a collective, a unity if you will.
What we didn’t have is a global community of people in love with nature.
WeNaturalists belongs to anyone who is in love with nature. It’s about celebrating our time here with nature. And in doing so, finding opportunities along the way, and ultimately creating lasting change. For all of us.
