As designers is our responsability to take a great deal of decisions that leave a mark on product definition. Yet, How do we ensure we make the best decisions? In this post we share with you a few tips that will hopefully have a positive impact on your product.

Remember, these are only a handful of the ones we use daily. There are a lot more tools and tips out there. Make sure you choose the ones that work best for you and your product.

Keep in mind your metric

You keep the user in your mind at all the times. The same applies to whatever metric you have defined as key to the success of your product.
Once you’ve chosen what metric you want to improve, and you have the hypothesis, test and learn. Rinse and repeat.

Test with users.

Nobody knows your designs better than you. Can you say the same about your users? Acknowledge that your users are humans. People evolve, change and so your product. Don’t forget to test with them.

MVP

Work on a Minimum Viable Product/Feature and test it. It will save you time. Lots of time. So it will to the development team. And you won’t waste money.

Tell a story. You are speaking with humans.

Yes, Lorem ipsum saves you time. But creating good copy is key to a great product. Design and content go hand in hand. We know it may look daunting but trust us in this, dedicating time to your copy is worth it. Don’t you remember the first time you found that funny message about the cookies? Did you eat them all? ;)

These are a few examples of what may have a positive impact when defining your product. What do you think of them? Do you have different ones in your playbook? Share them with us!
