A round-up of some of the top tweets from our policy workshop held at Les Ateliers des Tanneurs, Brussels, on 26 April 2019.

On Friday 26 April 2019, Nesta and DSI4EU organised a policy workshop in Brussels to explore how the European institutions can continue and grow their support for digital social innovation (DSI), tech for good and civic tech in the years to come. This is a crucial time for the EU, with elections approaching in May, a new College of Commissioners taking up their role in November, and work ongoing on the next long-term budget and research funding programme. It’s also a crucial time for European societies: we face huge social and environmental challenges, growing geopolitical tensions, falling trust in democracy and democracies, and increasing fears about the impact of digital technologies on our lives.

Our workshop brought together over 80 EU representatives, DSI practitioners, researchers and civil society representatives to discuss how the EU can support DSI through funding, procurement and e-government, leadership and stewardship, supporting cities and enabling a digital civil society. We’ll be working on these ideas in the months to come — stay tuned for more news.

You can also check out the full agenda and the speaker biographies.

In the meantime, here are a few of the top tweets from the event:

In the run-up…

Nesta’s Chief Executive, Geoff Mulgan, opening the day…

Inspiring DSI practitioners share their success stories…

A huge thank you to everyone who joined — we can’t wait to keep building on these conversations and seeing positive change for DSI.
