On my journey, to get lost in the depths of the internet, I chose to use the platform, Pinterest, as my jumping off point. I first had to wake up from a nice nap I was taking and make my way to the computer. Once at the computer, I pull up Google Chrome and then log on to my personal Pinterest account, AmandaJapanda. I started off with just one simple three letter word, Eye. It brought up tons of links and eye catching pictures of real eyes, sketches, color of eyes, monster eyes, how to draw eyes; literally the list goes on and on. I simply clicked on the image that interested me which was the sketches of eyes. I continued to click on pictures that caught my attention, either from style, color, interesting compositions, but all glorious image eye candy. The most memorable images I save, to create a internet trail back to my original search. In the following order, here is some of the wonderful content that surprised me on my journey.

Mythological creatures.

With a lot of talk about, how technology became to be and the effects it has on our culture, this image seemed fitting to be the end to my digital derive. My generation, the Millennials, are seen as the most nostalgic generation yet and this image sums up our yearning for the past by the exaggerate image above with the mixtape head, coffee, cliche tattoos, and words. It’s a bit ironic that in my search of the word eye, I ended up with a illustration that contains no eyes. None the less, I found myself pleasantly relaxed, as I was not in search of anything in particular and with no stress of having to get something done I allowed myself to enjoy the seemingly endless maze of content that the internet had to offer. Until it was time to document my experience of the digital derive.
