New Dtravel Advisor: Introducing Mauricio Prieto

Genesys Partners, the team behind Dtravel, is excited to announce that Mauricio Prieto will be joining as a Product Advisor.

An entrepreneur and executive with decades of experience in both fast-growth technology and established companies, Mauricio is an excellent addition to an already strong core advisory team at Genesys. Using his extensive expertise in the industry, Mauricio will further Dtravel’s mission to create new organizational structures that enable participants to both provide and capture value, whether economic or societal.

Mauricio has had a tremendous career in the online travel industry. As a co-founder and former CMO of eDreams, the fifth-largest global online travel agency, Mauricio helped transform the OTA from a start-up to a billion-dollar brand. At eDreams, Mauricio led various functions of the company throughout its 15-year lifecycle from launch to IPO. He demonstrated the ability to oversee and manage highly complex organizations in rapidly changing environments. Prior to eDreams, Mauricio was a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and a senior product development manager for online trading at Charles Schwab.

Mauricio is a partner at Travel Tech Essentialist, a travel innovation platform working with financial intermediaries (VCs, hedge funds, investment banks, PE firms) and industry operators (from early stage startups to public companies) in the travel, hospitality and media ecosystems.

Mauricio is a dedicated open-water long-distance swimmer and a world traveler at heart, having lived and worked in Spain, the US and Mexico, spending at least 15 years in each country.

For the last 4 years, I’ve been closely following and investing in blockchain and crypto. Blockchain is a transformational technology that will revolutionize society, business and the economy in a more profound way than the Internet has in the last 20 years. I am particularly interested in the applications being built on the new blockchain architecture in various industries including travel. Just like some of the most relevant companies today didn’t exist 15 years ago, I believe that blockchain will accelerate the emergence of players that will unseat established companies that today seem unbeatable. I look forward to contributing to Dtravel and other travel companies in this space.
