When Kevin and I first came up with Dubbz, we were playing a game during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. Gaming kept us sane, social, and imagining what the gaming space might look like in the future.
A casual first chat turned into an obsession as we gradually zoomed out to the entire ecosystem: gamers, developers, and content creators.
We love gaming. But, when we looked at the big picture, we found a broken ecosystem.
1. Fragmentation
We realized that the current gaming landscape is fragmented. Gamers, developers, and streamers run in silos, often disconnected from each other. There are great platforms for gaming, streaming, and development, but they rarely intersect in a way that benefits everyone involved. We wanted to change that by creating a unified platform where these communities could connect and thrive together.
2. Lack of Financial Opportunities
For a select few, gaming can be a full-time career. Still, most gamers and creators struggle to monetize their passion. The opportunities to earn are limited, inconsistent, and controlled by big centralized entities. We envisioned a platform where every participant could unlock financial opportunities, turning gaming from a hobby into a sustainable livelihood.
3. Inadequate Support for Gaming Creators
Platforms like Patreon and OnlyFans aren’t built to help gaming creators thrive. They lack the features needed to support the dynamic and interactive nature of gaming content. We wanted to provide a platform that addresses these needs comprehensively.
