ChipStars — AMA Summary
On Monday the 19th of April, the DuckDAO community had an AMA with Josip Mikulić and Bojan Janković from ChipStars.
ChipSTARS is a unique and innovative online poker platform that allows users to play and earn rewards in a variety of lucrative ways. Modern design, intuitive user interface, and revenue stream offerings make it an attractive alternative to other competitor platforms. Users are able to participate in various tournaments and play on the Desktop App, Web, and soon, Mobile.

Can we start with an introduction for yourselves; what are your backgrounds/experience both in the traditional and crypto spaces?
Can you also tell us a little about some other key Chipstars team members who can’t make it to today’s AMA session?
Josip
Yes, of course. Let me introduce myself. My name is Josip Mikulic and I am the founder of online poker platform Chipstars. I have worked in the Human Resource sector for most of my professional life and I have also been an entrepreneur in this field for over ten years. In my spare time I have been a passionate poker player. One day I turned my passion into a profession and I started up Chipstars.

I have been actively involved in the Crypto Scene since 2014. From the start I was convinced that big things were going to happen. However, over the past year, my involvement has been more of as a quiet co-observer of the Crypto scene. I wasn’t really a very successful trader either, but I was always very convinced of the whole system.

I am Bojan Janković and I am an MSc in Graphical Engineering and technologies with Web development as the narrow sphere of interest. I started to work with Josip with these preferences and I did jobs from this sphere. But, with time I felt that I wanted to be more involved in this project and to give it something more. The Crypto scene has interested me from the beginning, but I didn’t have a chance to go too deep before this project. I have learned a lot of things I always wanted to know and now I can say that I am a part of something very interesting.

In your eyes, what are the biggest challenges for the online gambling industry in blockchain, and how does Chipstars solve or overcome these issues?
Josip
In my opinion, the biggest challenge will be to connect today’s gaming industry with the world of blockchain. The aim is to win over players who are not familiar with blockchain technology. This certainly will be our greatest challenge. Chipstars’ aim is to make people aware of blockchain in order to give them more options, more security and the greatest gaming experience. This will be explained as simply and easily as possible.

Perfect! Yeah it’s amazing that with this market cap we’re still at the beginning and so many more users need to be on-boarded and familiarized with crypto.
Having easy to use and understand platforms will be absolutely necessary for success

Is there an age limit to enter and play at ChipSTARS like other platforms? Can you explain more about your deposit and withdrawal policies? What is the minimum deposit and withdrawal amount?
Bojan
Yes, the legal age limit is 18 years of age. As is the case with other platforms, younger players are not allowed to play on our platform either.
The minimum deposit and payout is 10 Euros.

Have the ChipStars team considered the idea of allowing people to stake on poker players? Similar to YouStake? I think that would be a really cool feature to distinguish your project from the rest!

Thank you for your Ideas and your Input. Yes, this suggestion is certainly very exciting and something that we will most definitely consider and look at possibly Incorporating as one of our features.

Which variants of the Poker game does ChipStars support and are there any other variants that you plan to introduce?
Josip
Chipstars offers the most popular variations such as Texas Holdem, Omaha and various tournaments. Further variants will certainly follow and be introduced in the near future. But for the beginning we wanted to start off with the classic variants.

Yeah that’s a smart move. Start off with one and then grow.
On betting platforms like poker or slot games, fairness, security, transparency are standard requirements.
However, on centralized betting platforms, these requirements are not ensured, especially fairness. How will this be improved/fixed by the Chipstars platform?
Josip
As a certified online gaming provider, we guarantee 100% security. We only work with well-known and trustworthy partners in this industry. The player conditions are clear and they are easily accessible by everyone. We will openly present the payout percentages. Transparency and security are and always will be our top priority. Under which jurisdiction can ChipStars operate a Poker Gaming Platform? Are you fully licensed? Can anyone participate in your upcoming tournaments?

We operate our platforms with a valid license issued by Curacao. As Curacao is governed by the Netherlands, Curacao eGaming can issue a license under European law. Due to the special licensing conditions and subjects we are not accepting players from France, Netherlands, USA and Curacao.

Ok thanks for clarifying. I know our USA users are gonna be super bummed but hey, what can you do.
I’m very interested in the rented tables your whitelist talks about. If I were to rent one and customize it for players to enjoy, how long do I have this table for? Is it a set time period (hours, days, weeks?) or is it as long as I stake a certain amount of your tokens for?
If the above answer is based on staking and I “keep” the table, is this basically your form of farming for members?

Ok, I can answer this :)
Here we offer the possibility to get your own table with a higher amount of tokens, this can be done for marketing purposes and on top of that you have 1% of the revenue generated at this table.
We will share some more information about renting tables soon. Please be with us and you will be informed about this. 😊

The focus is on poker now of course but what about other games? Pia Gao maybe? Blackjack? Slaps!? Really, there could be a whole gambit of a casino if you really wanted to have it.

We already have a casino section In our app. You can play a large number of games Including BlackJack there. And we are working daily to add some new games, so you can expect more great games in the future 🤩
