and into each night
the stories told
of arrows shot
and hearts made old
the scars of pointed barbs
lie deep
each polished stone
as river keeps

Why do you care
this pain you feel
these waters run deep
and make a meal
of scars that burned
but soon are healed
whose roots now long
for a fertile field
