Save time, money, and a lot of stress.

Travel can be an incredibly stressful and expensive process, but it doesn’t have to be. For years it felt like travel was going stay this way forever. But fortunately some startups have taken on the challenge to make every step of the way as painless and as enjoyable as possible. Here are our top 5 favorite travel apps for trips or vacations in 2017, all aimed to relieve stress and save you some time and money.

WeDo

We’ve all been there, we’re on the plane, or we’re an hour into our drive and have a cold panic that we might have forgotten something or left something on or not locked up before we left. Before I leave on any trip, I create a re-usable list that I can make use off.

WeDo is perfect for solo use. Whether it’s for your packing list, for keeping track of things you need to look up, book, or buy, WeDo is a great place to keep track of everything you need to do.

Packing List in WeDo

Once I mark off all my tasks, I can just uncheck them and use it again for my next trip!

If you’re going with someone, collaborating on that road trip or vacation with your partner is super easy. You can share lists with them, assign tasks, and even estimate how long it will take to plan.

The best part is WeDo offers the best features for free. Also something WeDo does well is if you’re in a group and it’s a big trip, like for a bachelor party, you can work on multiple lists with people, assign tasks, due dates, notes, attachments, subtasks, all for free.

Download WeDo for iOS, Android (Beta), Mac, or Web.

Hopper

If you’re someone that isn’t rushed to be somewhere on a specific day use Hopper. It will intelligently tell you when the best time to book a flight is and suggest a better day to leave on to save you, seriously, hundreds of dollars on flights.

Download Hopper on iOS or Android.

Destigogo

This product was made for adventurers. If you’ve ever just wanted to go somewhere for a few days, or longer, and have a set budget, Destigogo is a must. What make’s it so great is you don’t have to pick a destination, just a budget and a starting location. It will tell you all the places that you can visit under that budget. It’s magical.

Whether it’s going on an adventure, on road trip, to a new city, or just getting some sun, it finds places you’ve probably never heard of or thought about for cheap.

It’s not just flights, they find you hotels for your budget too. Yes, it doesn’t include food, or fees or experiences at any locations, but it’s a great starting place.

TripIt

One thing the Wallet on iOS doesn’t do is actually keep you update on the flights properly. Whether it’s hotels, planes, buses, trains, restaurants or boats (ok maybe not boats), TripIt keeps track of it all. I’ve traveled a lot, and my boarding pass on the iOS Wallet rarely updates quickly, or at all for a gate change or any info on delays. TripIt is instant.

If you’re traveling with someone, or if someone is expecting you, you can invite them to your trip and they can be updated along with you for any changes or delays.

Pana also allows you to do the planning and booking all in the same app. You can find and book Flights, Hotels, and Restaurants. I haven’t used Pana, so I can’t personally vouch for it, but it’s looks like an awesome experience — and their reviews seem great.

Detour

I’ve been to over 50 countries, been on hundreds of flights, plenty of cruises and hotels… no matter if you’re traveling for pleasure or for work, even if you’ve been somewhere a million times… take the time to go on a detour. Explore the city, find a new restaurant.

If you’re not inclined to spend a lot of money, Detour is a great alternative or addition. Detour allows you to explore a city on your own with custom voice guided experiences. The only bad part is the number of cities they’re available in. But if they’re available in the city you travel, it’s a great way to learn more about where you are, and not have to walk around blindly in a new city.

Download Detour for iOS or Android

Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip!
