Game lore is the backstory of your game world, and it’s what you use to make your players feel like they’re part of that world. It can be as simple as a two-paragraph description of how the world came to be or an intricate history covering all of your game’s races and creatures.
In Duelist King’s respect, we have a vast backstory and in-depth lore that elevates our game to the next level. The kingdom of Ivory is one part of this lore, a magic kingdom led by the wise wizard Cecile.
About the Kingdom of Ivory
Queen Cecile is a wise wizard, no one knows her age, but some myths tell that she has lived since the continent was born. And she inherited the most powerful magic from the Creation God. The Ivory Kingdom is next to the Ebony, they used to be the trusted alliance, but it seems to be broken now.
The Ivory Kingdom is protected by the magic barrier that only humans with magical potential can pass through.
In this kingdom, daily activities are conducted by magic. The children are sent to magic school early; if they don’t have any magic potential, they will be banished from the kingdom.
The banished people gather around the Ivory Kingdom and form villages. The villages act as a buffer for oncoming attacks from enemies of the kingdom.
Final Thoughts
These days, video game lore is everywhere and it’s absolutely ingraining itself into gaming culture. It’s a powerful enough force that it’s proven that fans will consistently shell out the cash for not only games but also books and comics. Lore is where I find some of the most interesting properties of any series and often times, it’s what keeps drawing me back in time after time.
No matter whether you are making a browser game or an app with heavy graphics, lore is important. There has to be some sort of context for what players are doing and why they are doing it. Lore may be simply written ideas or conveyed by cutscenes and events that unfold as your game progresses.
