St Peter’s AC’s Niamh Brady who made her Ireland debut at the weekend in Glasgow

St Peter’s AC athlete Niamh Brady marked her Irish international debut in style on Saturday, recording two Personal Bests at the Indoor Combined Events in Scotland.

After earning her place on the Irish team with her performance at the recent National Schools Championships, Niamh wasn’t phased by the high level of competition in Glasgow and performed brilliantly.

Her two PBs came in the high jump and shot putt with a leap of 1.47m and a putt of 7.87m — with a 3K shot — helping the Irish team to a bronze medal.

Closer to home, the Louth Junior and Masters Championship took place on the farmland of St Peter’s AC stalwarts Andrew and Brendan Rogers in Togher.

The club had just two athletes in action with the host himself, who runs around the fields every day, albeit usually chasing cattle, finishing second in the O60 category!

In the ladies race, Grace Lynch made her debut in a St Peter’s AC singlet and recorded a very strong run to claim a bronze medal in the O35 category.

Grace, who has only recently taken up running after a distinguished ladies GAA career, showed per pedigree and hopefully, it will be the first of many medals in the blue and black of the club.
