Details of Louth GAA’s new stadium, which will be situated on the Inner Relief Road in Dundalk, were unveiled to club delegates at a County Board meeting in Darver on Wednesday night.

The 14,000 capacity arena will be made up of a 4,080 seated stand which contains two kiosks, four dressing rooms, and a physio room, each with toilets and showers. There will be two match officials’ rooms, each with toilet and shower facilities, a medical room with a toilet and an office, along with disabled toilets.

The two-level stand will also contain a spectators’ tea room, male and female toilets, a plant and equipment room, a lift and stairway to the first and second level, a player hospitality room, with a kitchen and two toilets. Twenty-four disabled viewing spaces will be situated on level two along with four disabled toilets, a team room, an even control room, a storeroom, and four press boxes.

The standing terrace on the opposite side of the ground will hold 8,470 spectators with male and female toilets, a spectators’ team room, two kiosks, three press boxes, and a storeroom. There will be two standing areas behind the goals, each with a capacity of 725 people.

Twenty turnstiles will cater for supporters who enter at the Inner Relief Road side with 10 turnstiles situated at the DkIT Sport entrance. There will be on-site parking for 70 cars — with 24 of them for disabled drivers — and two bus parking bays.

The 145m x 90m main pitch will be illuminated by 800 lux floodlighting, which is suitable for televised games, with a warm-up pitch, 90m x 65m in size, lit by 200 lux lights.

The new ground moved a step closer last week when a planning application that was due to be submitted to Louth County Council was revealed.

The planning application reads as follows: “The development will consist of a sports stadium (14,000 capacity) comprising of: A covered seated stand (4,080 capacity) incorporating dressing rooms, toilets and ancillary accommodation; general standing area (1,450 capacity); main playing area; warm-up area; floodlighting; stop nets; scoreboard; flag poles; entrance turnstiles; generator compound; ground maintenance store; ESB sub-station; vehicular entrances; on-site car parking (70 no spaces); boundary fencing and boundary walls, external footpath along eastern side of the Inner Relief Road (R215) and all associated site works.”
