Dundalk Gaels will hold a registration night for juvenile female players on Thursday, October 17th as part of the club’s exciting plan to introduce a new ladies GAA structure at the Ramparts.

The Gaels have been catering for male footballers since the club was formed back in 1928 with players, aged from four to 40, currently involved at the club.

A senior ladies team did make a fleeting appearance during the nineties but, until now, the club has never had an underage set-up that caters for female players.

Following a proposal made by two young members of the club, Keelin Lambert and Sarah McDonnell, a committee was formed in May 2019 with the task of setting up a female underage structure, under the LGFA.

Since then, the committee has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get the club ready for this exciting new chapter in its 91-year-history, and plans are now in place to set up a nursery, along with teams from U8 to U18 level.

Training is due to commence in January 2020. All coaches have undergone a Garda vetting process and have taken part in a safeguarding course and the LGFA fundamentals coaching course.

Registration takes place in the Gaels clubhouse between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. For more information, contact Clodagh (secretary) at 086 8477915 or by emailing dundalkgaels.louth@lgfa.ie

Please spread the word and encourage any young girls in your life to become involved in this exciting initiative that will ensure they are active, make friends and are part of a fantastic community club!
