David Quinn in action for Uncle Tom’s Cream

Uncle Tom’s Cream sit joint top of the Dundalk Pool League Division One table with Avenue Rovers after maintaining their winning start to the season with an impressive 4–1 win away to Castle Castle Bar Baize on Monday night.

The visitors started brightly and two superb finishes from Damien Carberry saw him beat Paul Ruane. The Blackrock side doubled their lead when David Quinn recovered from losing the opening frame to beat Stephen McBride and the victory was complete when Ger Cunningham beat Tiernan Mallon.

Paul Kearney beat Liam Johnston to make it 4–0 before hosts finally got on the score sheet when captain Maddy Hoey beat Sean McGorian. The result leaves the Baize fourth from bottom in the standings with one win and two defeats from the opening three games.

Their stablemates, the Castle Bar Revolution, fared better away to the Commercial Classico’s, picking up their first win of the campaign after a five-frame thriller.

The dynamic Dominic O’Connor beat Jorge Mimoso to get the hosts off to a flyer but Revolution levelled the scores when Bryan Crowe beat Michael Ralph. Marty Ferrigan beat Paul Byrne to put the Classico’s back in front but wins for Julio Cesar and David McQuillan over Justin McArdle and Aaron Callan completed a fine comeback for the Revolution.

New boys Lumpers entertained Harry’s Bar and they struck first when Peter O’Hagan got back to winning ways against Martin Hayes to give the home team an early lead. Jamie Lavelle beat Martin Riddock to edge them closer to the win and when Aidan Kinsella beat Don O’Brien, the points were secure.

The Division One table

Mickey Fee got the visitors on the scoresheet when he beat Dave Hanratty and in the last match Harrys’ Richie Keeley also beat James Dullaghan but it was too little, too late as the Lumpers recorded a 3–2 win to leave Harry’s bottom of the table after three rounds.

In Blackrock, Avenue Stars moved into third place with a 3–2 win over Uncle Tom’s. Brian McGuire put the Dundalk side ahead when he beat Kevin Soraghan in the opening frame before Barry Soraghan beat Paddy Tavey to level matters.

The visitors went back in front when Michael Sheenan beat Alan Reenan but the scoreboard was all square again when Brendan Reena beat James Toner but Kieran Grimes completed the victory for Uncle Tom’s when he beat Seamus McGeoghegan in the decider.
