The feature event at Dundalk Stadium this weekend is Saturday’s final of the Dundalk Novice Open.

This 525 unraced stake carries a first prize of €1,150, and the line-up boasts two unbeaten runners in Dream Dude and Milldean Skip.

Dream Dude, owned and trained by Navan’s Ollie Bray, clocked identical times of 28.64 in each of the two previous rounds, and looks like going off favourite.

Meanwhile, Milldean Skip improved his initial time of 29.17 to 28.85 in the semis, and is sure to give owners, the M&H Racing Syndicate of Redcar a good run. He is trained in Skerries by Marie Gilbert.

Trap draw: 1: Corkys Lad, 2: Milldean Skip, 3: Dream Dude, 4: Fatboyz McGregor, 5: Pa Broon, 6: Stringer Bell.

While there is no direct local involvement in Saturday’s big race, that is not the case in the Ever Kleen Contract Cleaners A3 which continues on Friday with the second round.

In heat one, Hangover Cure goes for Dundalk’s Amy Rose O’Connor and Chris Doyle, and Lordship-based Peter Noone is represented by Thats It.

Inslips Fury, owned in Togher by Michael Boyle and Thomas Butterly is in heat two, and he is joined by Deanmill Katy, trained in Clogherhead by Michael Kelly. A third Co Louth hope in this contest is Jewel Ruler, for Omeath’s Barry and Master Cian Reilly.

The next eliminator includes Time Fora Pint, owned by Kevin Kearney, Dunleer, and Kilara Beauty, the property of Master Rion McDonnell, Castlebellingham.

Finally, in heat four, we have Debidee Express, running for Ardee’s Kevin Commins, and Quandrum, for Blackrock veterinary surgeon Brian Jones and his brother Laurence.

The first of eight races on Friday begins at 9.30pm, while Saturday’s 11-race card gets underway at 7.50pm.
