Bellurgan United and Ardee Celtic produced a cracking game in the U17 Premier Division runners-up play-off match at Tom Flynn Park on Tuesday night.

Ardee had the better of the first half exchanges and deservedly went in front minutes before the break when Lorcan Donnelly’s pass set up Jamie Farrell who fired past Bellurgan stand in goalkeeper Oliver McGuinness.

Evan Malone almost doubled Ardee’s advantage but his well struck effort bounced back off the Bellurgan upright and the hosts levelled the score at 1–1 12 minutes into the second half when Colm Farrell’s pass was slotted home by Daniel McDonald.

The same two players combined again minutes later for McDonald to put the hosts 2–1 ahead but the peninsula side were penned back as Ardee threw everything except the kitchen sink at the Bellurgan back four in search of an equaliser and they nearly got it with two minutes remaining but Tristan Knowles superb effort crashed back off the crossbar.
