Nobody’s Child

From age 5, all she knew was goodbye.

She collected her mere possessions

Not a tear came by.

Onward to another home.

A nobody’s child.

She was shuffled through from door to door.

A nobody’s child is how she came know.

With every new home a new scare was shone.

Her bruises burned so deep, she swore never to weep.

Stripped of all her dignity, her pride and her being.

She lost a little of herself with every encounter that was meant to amend.

Fragile and distort, bitter yet lost.

By age 10, rejection was her best friend.

A nobody’s child is how she went.

Years went by and things never changed

As she bloomed into a lady, she felt greater pain.

She would do anything to make it right

Trade in her body, her soul and her mind.

But no one cared to validate her being.

She was just another pit stop in their greater scheme.

Her name was something she barely remembered,

Since to them just her looks mattered.

All she wanted was to go home.

A nobody’s child is all she’ll know.
