Renan Alvarenga, Technical Solution Engineer, São Paulo

I’m responsible for… the technical integrations and deployments across the markets related to the Media Products.

My journey in data and technology… I have always found it easy to learn programming logic and manage platforms, so I took course focused in Database Management. I had my first opportunity to work with Ad Ops in 2013 at a small Ad Ops company where I started my journey in programmatic media managing advertising campaigns. Four years later… I moved to São Paulo to join dunnhumby as a Technical Account Manager and here I am.

The best part of my job… is the team I work with! I love being in a constantly changing environment. We’re always learning new things and being challenged to think up new strategies to technically apply our solution in order to reach the best campaign performances for our clients.

  • Define where you would like to drive your career, be close to your manager and get tips and insights about how to improve your profile
  • Understand the business environment and be proactive across the teams involved
  • Be friendly and helpful with others… today they will need you, but tomorrow who knows?
  • Love what you do

Lorna Speed, Technical Solution Engineer, London

Best part of the job… working with other people from around the world

What makes working at dunnhumby different… there’s a focus on having a good work life balance and creating a good work environment that encourages employees.

Damoder Reddy, Technical Solution Engineer, Gurgaon

I’m responsible for… integrating and providing technical solutions to the offline products.

How I got into data and technology… I’ve been working in the digital advertising industry for the past 8 years and the industry has always excited me with its opportunities.

A typical day… involves helping our Account Managers (AMs) with requests related to data, online ads, providing insights, investigating issues and integrating new clients.

Best part of the job… is that we have a global team who look out for each other and it really feels amazing to interact with them, sharing knowledge and understanding different cultures. The team motivates me to learn something new every day.

How do you know the work you do is making an impact? It makes me feel happy when the AM says that the data insights we provided them really helped them to present the product’s value to customers.

Advice for others interested in a career in data and technology? Never stop learning, keep yourself updated on the latest technology trends and be focused on what you want to achieve. Always be curious. Technology is changing at a rapid pace so never shy away from asking questions.

Try working with lots of teams, understand what they do and the role they play. Having a great tech network pays off throughout your career.

Ricardo Carvalho, Technical Solution Engineer Lead, Berlin

I’m responsible for… helping clients worldwide to adopt, deploy and use dunnhumby Media solutions

How I got into data and technology… technology has always intrigued me since the first time I saw a PC (mid 80’s). I started an IT internship when I was 16, and by the time I was 18 I was already working professionally as an Infrastructure Specialist in one of the biggest IT companies at that time.

In 2014 I was working as IT Cloud Architect when by chance I read the Sociomantic (now dunnhumby Media) job post for the Technical Account Management position. It was a completely new role, scope and challenge. I decided to apply, and it worked! Here I am 6 years later.

Advice for others interested in a career in data and technology? First, you need to love it. Then, focus on finding the overlap between the topics and technologies that excite you and the trending ones that the market value. It will guarantee you (or almost) a good leverage and access to good opportunities.

Expose yourself to challenges and support as many people as possible! The best way to increase your circle is being helpful.

Outside of work I love to enjoy Berlin with my wife and daughter, hang out with friends or simply read something that makes me think.

Olga Arkharova, Technical Solution Engineer, Moscow

I’m responsible for… campaign technical set up, monitoring campaign technical issues, product import, CRM import. I support my team on all non-standard technical requests.

My typical day… starts with checking emails, then I do urgent requests from my team and work on coming requests in JIRA. During the day I may have a few meetings with my colleagues or clients.

How do you know the work you do is making an impact? The technical set up is the skeleton of all the campaigns. If something is broken or implemented in a wrong way it will have an impact on the campaigns.

What makes working at dunnhumby different… dunnhumby is a big company and there are many opportunities to learn and improve your tech skills. When I learned a new product, I had great support from the team, they were ready to answer all my questions and help me.

Mikolaj Stepien, Technical Solutions, Engineer, Warsaw

I’m responsible for… mostly for the successful setup of offsite CPG campaigns on Facebook, Google and YouTube platforms.

A typical day… coffee, emails, checking shared folders for new files for processing, checking Jira for outstanding tickets, putting out fires, being a superhero to be honest.

Best part of the job… getting to know new technology all the time. Never-ending learning cycle — which is good.

Outside of work I love to… spend time with my family, look for new music, DJ, walk my dog.

Maciej Kmieciak, Technical Solutions, Engineer, Warsaw

I’m responsible for…Offsite CPG campaigns setup for Facebook, Google and YouTube platforms, as well as anything related programmatic.

A typical day…Like with most people it starts with coffee, and emails. And a danish. Then I usually check our system for any outstanding issues, problems, or issues that might have appeared overnight.

How I got the role…right after college I started working for a large bank, where I first experienced how data talks to the databases and the front end. This got me interested in the process. Shortly after I landed an opportunity at dunnhumby where I was able to explore the process even more.

Best part of the job… It has got to be learning something new every day! But in all honesty it has got to be the team of very awesome and special people I get to work with. I truly feel lucky to be a part of this team.

Julia Ziegenhardt (aka Jules), Technical Solution Engineer Manager, Berlin

I’m responsible for… managing the Technical Solution Engineering Team

How I got the role… originally, I studied print and how to publish books. I’m a self-learner and driven by solutions. So, I basically grew into this role with dunnhumby without having any technology or data background.

After 2 years at dunnhumby working as a Technical Account Manager (TAM), I started taking over as the team lead for the TAM team. I continued this for 4 years and since Summer 2019, I have been leading the Technical Solutions Engineering team of 9 people globally at dunnhumby.

A typical day… talking to my team and trying to figure out how to improve things and come up with good solutions that will help the business and at the end also my team.

Who inspires you… people that lead innovation and have their feet on the ground and don’t always put themselves first.

Axel Rodrigo Méndez Hernández, Technical Solution Engineer, Berlin

I’m responsible for… implementing dunnhumby Media solutions like our Grocery DSP, monitoring technical issues on campaigns and supporting the team.

How I got into data and technology… I always had an interest in new technologies, especially everything related to IT. After completing my studies in Business and Marketing I was trying to get more involved in IT so I extended my learning into things like CDNs, WAF, DDoS, Bots, etc. I knew I wanted to work somewhere technical and my interest brought me to dunnhumby.

A typical day… even though every day as a TSE is different, I would say that a typical day is defined by sorting out priorities and supporting on-going projects. There is always a part of the day that includes some laughs and sharing good moments with the team.

Advice for others interested in a career in data and technology? Don’t be afraid. Start moving with simple things, every piece of information is valuable. Don’t get frustrated, we all do. Be aware that technologies move quick, try to catch up. Learn to share what you know and let others share with you.

What makes working at dunnhumby different… The sharing of knowledge within the team. Every person in this team is there to help each other and to share their experience.

Jérome Said, Technical Solution Engineer, Berlin

How I got the role… I’m passionate about everything related to web technologies and I was looking for a new experience that could fulfil my need of learning new things. I was contacted by the HR team who offered me the chance to be part of dunnhumby. After reading more about the company and the ad technology world, I seized this great opportunity as this job offer matched all my expectations.

Outside of work… I like coding for my own personal projects to discover new tools or technologies (e.g. currently discovering vuejs and AWS amplify) and I also like playing video games.

What makes working at dunnhumby different… For me a good team spirit is important: I like supporting my colleagues, but I also like getting help from them when I need. In this regard, I have noticed that, here, people are easily approachable with each other even if they are not part of the same team. I really like this as it goes beyond the usual team spirit: we are all in the same boat no matter which team we are part of!
