Oh hi, I’m Karin — Project Manager at DUX!

Please describe how you see UX/UI design

It removes the noise and sets the focus on what is the most important. Quite a complicated task to do, all while looking visually appealing, too :)

What’s your favourite part of the design process at DUX?

I really enjoy the start of each project when we have workshops/brainstorming sessions, which we do both in-house and with our clients. If there is a good connection with everyone included (and there usually is), these talks can lead to very cool results.

Another element I appreciate in working in the UX/UI field is the possibility to get work with different clients and get a rare look into various fields. Since our client profiles vary a lot from start-ups to NGOs to private companies, there is always much to learn about how they operate, what are the struggles and joys etc. It is surely rewarding to see how our work has improved and helped clients to define and help their service/product.

What’s the number 1 myth about your field of work that you’d like to debunk?

I feel like the value and importance of professional design is often overlooked in making (business) decisions and it has a tendency of being viewed as some unnecessary extra or “something fun” to throw in at the end of the day. There is surely room for growth in improving design knowledge and design-oriented way of thinking in general.

On the upside, more companies are starting to realise the importance of design and how much can it improve the value of what they offer.

Share some favourite projects at DUX

Eesti Rahvakultuuri Keskus

Since before DUX I used to work in the culture/arts field, it has been very interesting to work on Eesti Rahvakultuuri Keskus’ web, which has a strong and inviting visual presence.

Metaplanet

One other project I’d like to highlight is Metaplanet Holdings’ new web. The highly visual appearance really fits this VC’s innovative and world-changing approach.
