Dvision Network Integrates Chainlink VRF to Help Power Fair and Transparent NFT LAND Box Distributionđź’«

The Dvision Network is an ultimate blockchain-based NFT metaverse platform. We are thrilled to announce that we have integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) into our metaverse ecosystem. Specifically, Chainlink VRF will help ensure that our upcoming NFT LAND box distribution is provably fair and verifiably random. Previously, we announced Chainlink as our primary oracle solution, serving multiple purposes including enabling us to access high-quality decentralized price data and providing us with a verifiable random number generator. Integrating Chainlink VRF into the LAND NFT drop marks the first instance of verifiable randomness in the Dvision metaverse platform, with a plan to integrate VRF into all Land Boxes and other randomness-needing functions in the future.

What Is Chainlink VRF and Why Is it Needed?

Blockchains are decentralized, deterministic systems with built-in transparency and verifiability. This inherently makes it difficult to source true randomness because blockchains are deterministic — meaning that when an input is known, it’s possible to glean the output (the results of the randomness). This limitation has historically resulted in subpar randomness solutions for Web3 applications. For example, using blockhashes to generate a random number is simple, but savvy miners or validators can manipulate the random number at the source (the block). On the other hand, using centralized and opaque servers to deliver random numbers to a smart contract breaks the fundamental values of Web3 transparency and verifiability.

Chainlink VRF solves the randomness problem by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with an oracle node’s pre-commited private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Dvision LAND box smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This helps provide users with automated and publicly verifiable proof directly on-chain that the LAND box distribution using Chainlink VRF for randomness is provably fair and cannot be tampered with or predicted by the oracle, outside entities, or the Dvision team.

The Utility of VRF for 3rd LAND Sale Participants

The Dvision Network is utilizing the VRF function to randomly distribute the additional NFT boxes for the participants in the 3rd LAND Sale.

The participants in the 3rd LAND SALE can access the dvision.app to claim their NFT Boxes, which is planned to be distributed using the VRF function. Hence, the Dvision 3rd Land Sale participants will see an NFT claim notification window when accessing the Dvision.App My Page.
