My BIGGEST Problem
Throughout my time as a blogger I have played with a few personal situations that involved problem solving. I have talked about my work, financial troubles, social and personal life, but I never touched on how bad I am with time management. I am horrible at budgeting my time. I am in luck though, my classmate Mihir Shah has his own blog all about time management over at https://medium.com/time-management-skills.
Mihir discusses the importance of focusing on the tasks that are important. Time management is not about making sure you can fit everything into your schedule, but instead deciding what is worth your time doing. Mihir Shah is quoted saying, “Time Management is doing only the tasks which are important to you in a least amount of time and the other remaining time you can do whatever you feel like, Time Management doesn’t mean you have to work all 24 hours of the day” (Shah 2017). This quote is so true because even I feel like that my day should be packed with objectives and things to do, when in actuality I am just jamming a bunch of useless tasks into my day. Deciding what is unimportant, is a good way of identifying what is your problem if you have a hard time budgeting time. If you have a paper to write, but you favorite show is on chances are you should make better use of you time and write your paper. You can always watch your tv show on dvr or illegally on the internet. This is a good example on what Shah speaks on in another one of his blogs. The idea of work before play. He brings up the idea that work requires you undivided focus. It is important to work first because you are more alert and attentive earlier in the day. Also, working before playing has the benefit of piece of mind. You don’t have that voice in your head reminding you at some point you have to get to work.
After reading Mihir’s blog. I am going to use his steps to better time management mixed in with my steps for problem solving. Hopefully this will solve and put an end to my days of poor time management.
