Study Tips for Passing Exam MB-200: Microsoft Power Platform + Dynamics 365 Core

I successfully passed the MB-200: Microsoft Power Platform + Dynamics 365 Core and ever since I did that, I have been approached by a number of people, friends, and coworkers to provide some tips and directions on how to prepare for the exam. I wrote this post in some rush to get it out there, so please excuse my brevity.

Now without any further delay, let’s go directly to the subject.

Strategy & Tips:

Before I begin with the strategy and the tips, I want to stress here that MB-200 is not like other Microsoft Exams. It is undoubtedly one of the hardest exams in the Microsoft certification gallery. I don’t mean to scare you, if I can do it, you can too. My intention here is to emphasize that proper preparation is the key to pass the exam. It will take more effort than other exams, but you will pass it. I will try to share all the tips and the strategy that I know and that helped me pass the exam.

1. My first tip would be to visit the official exam page the download the skills outline. List down all the skills requirements on a piece of paper or in OneNote / EverNote or any productivity notepad you use. I personally use OneNote for notes taking.
2. Take notes. Any URL or resource you come across for a particular skill, record it under that skill for your reference as well as take notes of the key takeaways from the resource.
3. Work on each individual skill that is mentioned in the skills outline.
4. You must book at least 2 hours daily on weekdays and 4 hours at least on weekends (18 hours per week at least). I would highly recommend you give yourself at least a month to go through the content that I will share in this blog post. Approximately, you should be spending somewhere between 80 to 104 hours to prepare. If you think you need more time, I would strongly suggest you trust your instinct and put in that time before you sit for the exam.
5. Create a Trial instance of the Power Platform and make sure you practice each and every hands-on activity.
6. Do at least 3 revisions of the theoretical content.
7. Make notes of facts, figures, numbers, & nouns. (e.g size limits, allowed formats, allowed permissions, privileges, features, etc. )
8. Make notes of steps for creating or configuring something such as how to configure SharePoint integration? What are the prerequisites? What are the steps? What happens when the SharePoint integration is done? What are the steps for the data import? What type of files can be imported and what are the allowed delimiters and data separators etc.?
9. Practice, practice, practice. Whatever content you come across, go to the URL, login and try to see or do it yourself.

Study Resources:

A must study resource should be Microsoft Learn. I cannot stress enough about it. Make sure you master the recommended content that is mentioned on the Exam page for Microsoft Learn. Practice and try yourself every single item mentioned in the skills outline.
