An introduction to E-Gurukul.in
Since ancient times in India, education has been the foundation for society’s development. The earliest form of educational institution was the Gurukula, where a student would be imparted knowledge pertaining to various facets of life, while being cared under the supervision of Gurus. It was a system which inculcated nurturing and guidance to prepare students for all aspects of society. With modern times, all systems need evolution to match civilization’s progress. With this thought in mind, E-Gurukul.in was created. The fundamental principle behind E-Gurukul.in is an unrelenting purpose to spread the wings of education to all sections of society through the means of technology.
Our Mission
In India, socio-economic barriers are the primary deterrent to penetration of education in all parts of the country. Our mission is to overcome this obstacle through technology by providing an integrated learning platform with economic viability for any person with the desire to gain knowledge. We hope to see India as 100% literate, with inspired minds constantly striving for progress.
Ideate
It was in the year of 2013 when, while browsing through the internet, we noticed a dearth of an integrated knowledge portal. The internet, although immensely vast, did not have an educational platform which would be open to everyone and contain maximum relevant study material in one place. In December 2014, when a discussion between our founders veered to the power and prevalence of e-commerce, it was apparent that combining the technological elements of e-commerce to education would create an ideal system to overcome economical and regional barriers in the current educational system, thereby creating the foundation of E-Gurukul.in.
Create
The formulation of E-Gurukul.in has been a learning experience, with field work and surveys being conducted to understand the specific problems of the education sector. In addition, brainstorming sessions with diverse groups of people helped us to streamline our core objectives and principles, thereby creating a roadmap for an online learning endeavour, whilst inculcating uniform knowledge dissemination which is financially viable for almost all sections of society.
