Fear is not the problem it is the lack of action

Pro(ductivity) Tip# 61

Fear prevents you from doing what you need to do when you need to do it. Fear itself is not the problem but rather it is the lack of action.

A clear sense of duty and an engaged mental state help to. overcome this.

A sense of duty is necessary for a person to take appropriate action when needed even when circumstances are difficult. Responsibilty keeps us engaged in the outcome. Denying our responsibility allows us to look the other way and avoid the mental dissonance that emerges as a result of not living up to our expectations.

Here are a few things I found to be helpful in taking action:

  • Reconnect with your personal mission daily. Reflect on what is required of you.
  • Reflect on the importance of your mission and the impact it has on your life and the lives of others.
  • Be specific about the essential steps you need to take to follow through on your mission.
  • Visualize success in following through on these steps.
