There are now almost 25,000 e-residents from 138 countries, according to the latest statistics.

Everyone has their own unique story about why they signed up, although the main benefit at present is the ability establish and manage a location-independent company entirely online.

One e-resident has just posted his own video to YouTube to share his personal experience about why he became an e-resident and how he then traveled to Estonia in order to open a bank account.

He chose to open his company through LeapIN and then open a bank account with LHV, although a full list of e-Residency business providers is available here. In addition, e-residents can also now access EU business banking entirely online without travelling to Estonia through Holvi.

Please note though that if you do wish to travel to Estonia for the purposes of opening a bank account then the e-Residency programme strongly recommends that you contact a business services provider first.

Unfortunately, we are not able to thank this particular e-resident as he doesn’t reveal his name on the video. In fact, he even walks straight past our office at one point without realising it! Next time, make sure you stop by to say hello.

Here’s his video:

We’re always keen to help e-residents share their experiences about becoming an e-resident so please keep us updated at e-resident@gov.ee if you we can help you create, host or share your content.
