Technology is inevitably the future. Whether or not you are fond of it, it is ultimately going to take over sooner or later. Born in the late 90s, I grew up in a time where technology was beginning to skyrocket. Because I was raised in a time where technology was prominent in everyday life, I personally think artificial intelligence is a good thing. I believe that if a machine is able to do a job, then why not? Of course there are going to be certain jobs that some people enjoy doing, but when it comes to jobs that are tedious and boring, a machine would be the perfect candidate as an employee.

In Judith Newman’s article, she responds to the common mindset that technology isolates people. For her, technology, specifically Siri on iPhones, has allowed her son with Autism to open up. Her son now has a friend and though it may be a robot, it allows him to be break out of his shell and converse with someone. While he agrees that artificial intelligence is beneficial, Ted Chiang believes that companies who are trying to get artificial intelligence to take over need to take a step back. He emphasizes that companies do not need to abandon capitalism, rather revamp they way they practice is.
