  1. There of course are questions of how often this CSI Effect actually affects the thought processes of jurors. Some alarming research was done by Walden University which makes some strong claims about verdict influences. The research claimed that, “Most jurors (95%) reported that they watched CSI, whereas 73% reported that watching CSI influenced their verdict.”(Call 60). Although this research claims that the CSI Effect is influencing jury verdicts, there is more empirical evidence that the CSI Effect does not actually have a say in determining whether a jury will convict someone or not.
  2. It is clearly evident that there still remains questions in regards to the ratio of those affected by this phenomenon in terms of how often the CSI Effect is present in a juror. Along with this brings about questions on which thought processes of the jurors and processes of the trial are touched upon by the CSI Effect. According to some thought-provoking research provided by Walden University, there are strong claims that the CSI Effects does indeed influence verdicts in cases involving forensic evidence. The research claims that, “Most jurors (95%) reported that they watched CSI, whereas 73% reported that watching CSI influenced their verdict.”(Call 60). Although this research claims that the CSI Effect is influencing jury verdicts, there is other empirical evidence that suggests that the CSI Effect does not actually have a say in determining whether a jury will convict someone or not. The CSI Effect, although it has significance in certain procedures and processing during certain cases, does not and cannot absolutely impact the jury system in its ability to convict.
  3. The revision sharpened some sentence structures in that it helped lead up to my thesis. The first few opening statements in the paragraph help introduce the main misconception that I will touch in the majority of my paper. I am not sure whether I will include any personal accounts of the CSI Effect before this paragraph as I don’t really have a good story that comes to mind that will help get my point across. I feel that the inclusion of the statistic done by Walden University is crucial to bring some intrigue to the topic discussed. This helps in introducing my thesis on how the ability to convict is not impacted by the CSI Effect. My thesis might need a little work but for now I feel it gets the job done.
