Social media changes many parts of our environment without many people even noticing. There are writers, scholars, and everyday people who share opinion how technology influences social change. Malcolm Gladwell writes about how social has changed the world for the better. However, there are also people Natalie Walton who believes that social media and other aspects of technology has influenced main of our viewpoints in politics. Although, online activism is big deal I don’t believe that it promotes social justice, if anything it lowers it. Social media has a large influence to politics and social media and those influences change many people’s opinions or helps them form an opinion.

Galdwell does think that social media influence politics but for the worst. She begins he article by giving examples from the past about how information was shared. It was spread from the word of mouth unlike today it is found out through social media. It is the fastest way to get true or false information out to the world. Although, Walton discusses how social media can overtake people’s opinions but that it is not a bad thing because they have equal access to both sides of an argument.

Social media definitely has a role on our society and what we base our opinions on. I would like to think that is does not swade is one way or the other but I know it really does. Everything that people find entertaining or interesting finds a way to become know. I believe that the things that we see on social media do influence our thoughts because we often see more than one side of an issue. An example could be that if I see one idea I like on any social media I usually follow the connect or retweet it. And then I often see many of the same type of biased information, This unfortunate cause then minds in general will be taken over by those ideas. Social media influences politics greatly in both good and bad ways.
