Economics

National Economic Association

The National Economic Association (NEA) was founded in 1969 as the Caucus of Black Economists to promote the professional lives of minorities within the profession. In addition to continuing its founding mission, the organization is particularly interested in producing and distributing knowledge of economic issues that are of exceptional interest to promoting economic growth among native and immigrant African Americans, Latinos, and other people of color.

The Sadie Collective

By empowering and equipping Black women in quantitative and behavioral sciences, The Sadie Collective addresses the pipeline and pathway problem in economics, finance, data science, and public policy through programming and mentorship. While we primarily serve and address the needs of Black women and youth, The Sadie Collective is always open and welcoming to all.

Research in Color

Our goal is to increase the number (and improve the retention) of Black Ph.D. students and PhD students of color in economics and economics-adjacent disciplines, while amplifying meaningful economic and policy research on communities of color by prospective Ph.D. students of color.

Research In Color seeks to intervene in the future of the economics profession in order to achieve a more inclusive field and economically inclusive world.

The Black Economists Network

The Black Economists Network (TBEN) is an organisation dedicated to providing a platform through which professionals and students of Black African and Caribbean descent in economics can connect, collaborate, share ideas and support each other. We also seek to challenge the lack of diversity within economics related fields by bringing together and raising the profile of black people in economics by working alongside other organisations on their diversity strategies.
