Spotify’s Pre-School Podcast “Gardenkeeper Gus” Premieres

It’s refreshing to write about Spotify without having to mention Joe Rogan. While the music and podcast giant flails around attempting to find a calibrated response that offends no one and satisfies no one, Spotify has positive energy in the children’s podcast programming area.

Spotify recently premiered Gardenkeeper Gus, which is a quiet and contemplative preschool podcast that follows the delicately narrated adventures of six-year-old Gus and his squirrel best friend Rel as they explore and understand the endless and larger-than-life garden behind his family home. This podcast is designed for families with younger children

In January, Spotify announced its family and kids podcast slate, which includes the recently launched CoComelon Storytime.

In addition to CoComelon Storytime, Spotify will also introduce a mix of other original and exclusive “homegrown” shows, including Gardenkeeper Gus, 100 Cinderellas, and Deep Blue Sea — all available for parents to stream on Spotify within the Family and Kids Hub, as well as on the Spotify Kids app, exclusive to Spotify Premium Family subscribers. Details on all four shows can be found below:

  • CoComelon Story Time is an interactive storytelling show for preschoolers (2–5), full of classic fairy tales, global folktales and expanded nursery rhymes — told by the hugely popular & beloved CoComelon characters, JJ and Cody.
  • Gardenkeeper Gus, launching on January 31, is a quiet and contemplative preschool podcast that follows the delicately narrated adventures of six-year-old Gus and his squirrel best friend Rel as they explore and understand the endless and larger-than-life garden behind his family home.
  • 100 Cinderellas, launching on February 14, is an anthology series of Cinderella stories from around the world, suitable for bedtime.
  • Deep Blue Sea, launching on February 28, consists of episodes where listeners will visit an underwater, oceanic laboratory, Sea Lab Alpha, with an impeccable view of sea life.

Give credit to Spotify. I listened to CoComelon Story Time and Gardenkeeper Gus, and, although I’m not their key demographic, the shows are well done, entirely age appropriate and wildly creative for their targeted age groups.
