Three Different Things: November 29, 2018

The Cost of JavaScript, Micro Influencers, AWS DeepRacer

AWS DeepRacer
  1. The Baseline Costs of JavaScript Frameworks
”when you build your app on top of a JavaScript framework, you’re making peace with the fact that your app will never load in less than X seconds” The only thing I’d edit in this article is that there isn’t a balance between user experience and developer productivity… user experience should almost always trump developer productivity. JS frameworks should be chosen with good reason, and knowing the user experience tax they will produce.
  2. Byeeeee, Logan Paul: Brands Prefer ‘Micro Influencers’ Now
FTA: macro-influencers = (people with a few hundred thousand followers), micro influencers = (somewhere between 2,000 and 50,000 followers), nano influencers = (2,000 followers or fewer). Nice to know everyone is at least a nano influencer. Make sure you hire engagers not “influencers”, you’ll be better off by putting engagement above follower counts.
  3. AWS DeepRacer
A strategic move from AWS to get the next generation of scientists on their platform. I know what I want for Christmas! Too bad it doesn’t ship until 2019.
