Beirut Explosion

One year on after the devastating event

On August 4th 2020 more than 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded in the port of Beirut, 217 people were killed and 7000 injured. The detonation could be heard in all of Lebanon and even in Israel. One year after the detonation the devastating effect can still be seen from space. The following picture series clearly shows that the crater from the explosion remained and that the surrounding buildings couldn’t be rebuilt until now.
