1. Monizo

This app hasn’t actually come out yet, but we’re really excited about the prospect of it. Monizo is a bank account for freelancers, which is all managed through an app. It will take care of all the annoying financial nitty gritty that comes with freelancing, from taxes, to record keeping, to invoicing. (Only available in UK)

2. Toggl

If you charge out at an hourly rate instead of by the project, or even if you just want to make sure you’re not spending more time on that little tweak than you should, check out Toggl. It’s a timesheet generator which tracks the exact time you spend on a project with the tap of a button.

3. Trello

Without Trello, Easle would not exist. In fact, I’m only writing this post right now because my Trello board told me to. Trello is a super simple app / website which allows you to create collaborative to do lists, with the ability to assign tasks to others, leave comments on tasks, and colour code EVERYTHING.

4. Bonsai

Let’s be honest, the closest you’ll ever be to a lawyer is watching an episode of Law & Order SVU. So when it comes to drawing up contracts, or even pesky invoices, be honest with yourself and admit you don’t know what you’re doing. Bonsai is on hand though, and can help you set up water tight documentation, so you don’t have to worry about getting that next payment, or being taken for a ride by a crummy client.

5. Freedom

The internet is great and all, but we’re all subject to it’s distracting powers. Fortunately, Freedom blocks the internet so you can’t be distracted by that dumb meme your friend just tagged you in, or even that article that you think doesn’t count as procrastination because you’re ‘learning’. Oh, and it works across your mobile and laptop, so no excuses. Who needs willpower?
