August 2: Newport to Boston

It’s raining this morning in Middleton. Time to leave.

I stop by Providence, a city I’ve seen in a couple of movies and TV shows and thought it looked interesting. Before I start visiting the city, I need to work. Lucky enough, I find a parking place right in front of a nice coffee shop called Dave’s Coffee. A few hours later, I start a short tour; some streets look like movie sets. A pleasant city.

It’s mid-afternoon and time to keep going. On my way to Boston, I stop by the Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, my favorite football team. The stadium is massive; there’s also a huge complex with shops and restaurants around. All of this in the middle of nowhere, this is a little strange. There aren’t any event today. There are just a few tourists like me who wander; it’s weird.

Back in the car, I continue driving through a lovely residential region and finally arrive at the Airbnb place I booked, in the western suburbs of Boston. The house is in the middle a quiet residential neighborhood. Brenden, my host, takes an excellent care of his home. He gives me a good tip to get to Boston cheaply tomorrow.
