August 6: Acadia National Park to Saint John
I wake up around 6 am, get ready swiftly and pack the tent in two minutes. I wonder if my neighbors noticed and were surprised how quickly I set it up and wrapped it.
I go back to the park for a second tour. It’s such a beautiful place; I wish I had more time to hike some of the trails.

Luckily, because I began my tour early, it’s pretty quiet, but around 10 am I see more and more tourists everywhere. I finish the tour of Mount Desert Island, which offers more fantastic views, with not a lot of people.

Kind of sad to leave this beautiful place, I get back onto Route 1, on my way to the Canadian border.
I’m about half an hour away from the Canadian border when the sky gets darker. A few minutes later, I’m in the middle of a downpour. I worry a little because I am the only car heading towards the dark sky, and I cross a good number of cars going the opposite way. Fortunately, the storm stops almost as I arrive at the border.
After over a month in the US, I am happy to be finally back in my country. The border agent is friendly and smiling, a stark contrast with the experience I usually have with US border agents.
I drive one more hour to arrive in Saint John in the early evening, at a classic bed and breakfast located downtown. It’s all foggy in the city, it feels like a typical coastal town.
