Two men squeezing each others genitals, a big gut competition, a water gun filled with piss, a musical act, a game show, all of these things were on stage at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre last night. A F**cked Up Evening with the Trailer Park Boys was definitely something special.

We’ve always been big fans of the Canadian series, even before we released Greasy Money back in 2017. So of course we jumped on the chance to see them live. Hearing that they were coming to Vancouver created a buzz in the office. A strike force was assembled, gift bundles were made, tickets were secured, and a backstage meet and greet was scheduled. At the helm was our Communications Manager, Lidi. Big ups to her, because organizing dozens of people is no small feat. Bubble’s probably has an easier time herding kitties.

We started our own little #TPBDay hashtag and celebrated at the studio. We had Trailer Park Boys themed snacks out for everyone. Our cartoon cutouts were set up for photoshoots by the elevator. The Greasy Money team were donning their official TPB shirts. It was decent. The only thing missing were chicken fingers, the good kind.

Moving from the office, we met up with our good friends from High Roller Games. It was fantastic to meet with these wonderful people who’ve helped with many Trailer Park Games before we took a stab at it. They are truly a great batch of sh*thawks. We all got a bit liquored in preparation for the theatrical event. Anyone who watches highbrow performance art knows this is essential to the experience.

Arriving at the Queenie Theatre, it was amazing to see the crowd. It was a true mix of greaseballs from all walks of life. Young, old, punks, blue collars and white, everyone was having a great time. It was a true melting pot of Canadiana culture. It’s all thanks to a group of goofs getting together in Nova Scotia to make something funny. Obviously it paid off.

The show that ensued was hilarious and stupid in the best way possible. It played out like an episode of the show. There was turmoil, conflict, and beautiful resolution. The audience was participating throughout, some getting the chance to go onstage while others just shouted at Randy to go f**k himself.

One of the most heartfelt moments was a video montage of Randy and Lahey’s time together, mostly in jail. It was funny and sorrowful. A fitting way to to pay respects to the late John Dunsworth. It was a good way to remember the laughs he gifted us over the years.

When the show concluded, we were lucky enough to go backstage and meet the boys in the flesh. It was a definite upgrade from our cartoon cardboard cutouts. It was the ultimate payoff for the work we’ve put into Greasy Money over the last two years. They were the picture of kindness and hospitality, taking photos and chatting with the team. We got varying degrees of in character moments and out. It was a good blend of meeting “the boys” and the creators behind the show. Thank you JP Tremblay, Robb Wells, and Mike Smith for the chance to meet.

All in all, the night was a great blend of old friends and new. It was a night woven together with good vibes and humor. We can’t wait for their next tour, and we can’t wait to continue making content for Greasy Money.
