This week’s highlights include Daimler announcing it will invest $500 million on a second EV battery factory; South Korea hosting the world’s largest lithium ion energy storage system for frequency regulation; and a feature from Fortune on why big retailers such as Whole Foods are rapidly adopting solar panels throughout their stores.

Here are some of the top stories in cleantech this week:

· SOLAR: Fortune’s Katie Fehrenbacher wrote a feature explaining why big retailers like Whole Foods are installing solar panels in their numerous stores.

· INNOVATION: Greentech Media’s Jeff St. John wrote a feature on the winners of Google’s Little Box Challenge — a competition that gave away $1 million to the company that was able to pack the most power density per square inch into a solar inverter.

· EVs: Daimler announced it will invest $500 million on a second electric-car battery factory, according to Green Car Reports’ John Voelcker.

· WIND: Renew Economy featured a story on how Uruguay has became a wind energy powerhouse.

· ENERGY STORAGE: South Korea now features the world’s largest lithium ion energy storage system for frequency regulation, reported Business Green’s Madeleine Cuff.
