Welcome again to our series of regular In Case You Missed It (ICYMI) cleantech news blog posts. These blog posts feature some of the most interesting, compelling and/or impactful cleantech news of the week.

This week’s highlights include Japanese scientists successfully transmitting energy wirelessly, three European countries surpassing their 2020 renewable energy goals and a report finding that demand for U.S solar power increased 30 percent in 2014.

Here are some of the top stories in cleantech this week:

· RENEWABLES: Three European countries have surpassed their 2020 renewable energy goals set back in 2010 writes Quartz’s Cassie Werber.

· INNOVATION: Japanese scientists have found a way to successfully transmit energy wirelessly, a method that one day could make solar power generation in space a possibility.

· SOLAR: According to Solar Energy Industries Association and GTM Research report, US solar power demand increased 30 percent in 2014 as residential installations surpassed 1 gigawatt for the first time.

· GROWTH: Chris Mooney of The Washington Post reported that electricity generated from solar more than doubled and that electricity from wind outgrew all other sources.

· WIND: Greentech Media’s Julia Pyper reported that wind could make up 35 percent of US electricity generation by 2050.

· CARBON MARKET: The Quebec-California carbon market has generated over $1bn for clean energy and emissions reduction projects, consumer bill relief and government operations.
