This week’s highlights include Apple announcing that 93 percent of its facilities worldwide run on renewable energy; China planning to more than triple its solar power capacity by 2020; and news that California sold its 200,000th plug-in-vehicle last month.
Here are some of the top stories in cleantech this week:
· APPLE: Electronic giant Apple Inc. announced that 93 percent of its facilities worldwide now runs on renewable energy, reported Greentech Media’s Julia Pyper.
· CHINA: China plans to more than triple its solar power capacity over the next five years to help reduce carbon emissions, according to Bloomberg.
· ENERGY STORAGE: The global market for commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage could be worth $10.8 billion in 2025, up from $986.4 million in 2016, according to a report by Navigant Research.
· SOLAR: Vivint Solar raised $200 million for U.S. residential solar projects, reported PV Magazine’s Christian Roselund.
· EVs: CleanTechnica reported that California surpassed a major milestone with the state selling its 200,000th plug-in-vehicle last month.
