#ICYMI Cleantech News 4/8/16

Welcome again to our series of regular In Case You Missed It (ICYMI) cleantech news blog posts. These blog posts feature some of the most interesting, compelling and/or impactful cleantech news of the week, compiled by the Eastwick team.

This week saw a positive uptick in global adoption of renewable energy with an opinion piece on the topic from the New York Times’ editorial board and a Bloomberg article about a group of eight banks and investors joining a pledge to raise $7B for investment in clean energy. Bloomberg New Energy Finance also unveiled its annual list of the top companies for energy transformation.

Here are some of the top stories in cleantech this week:

· NYT OPINION: The editorial board at the New York Times used multiple examples from around the world to show that reductions in carbon emissions can be achieved more quickly and more cheaply than widely believed.

· RENEWABLE ADOPTION: The Guardian’s Sarah Sheiks looked at how corporations like Ikea and HP are looking to accelerate their adoption of renewable power.

· BNEF: Bloomberg New Energy Finance announced on Monday its annual selection of the ten leading companies for energy technology and business transformation.

· AIR FORCE: Cleantechnica’s Tina Casey spotlighted how the U.S. Army will be helping the Air Force’s efforts to accelerate toward its goal of 25 percent clean energy by 2025.

· CLEAN ENERGY INVESTMENT: Jessica Shankleman of Bloomberg reported that a group of eight banks and investors pledged $7 billion to join Bank of America Corp’s initiative that plans to raise at least $10 billion for investments in clean energy and sustainable development.
