Welcome again to our series of regular In Case You Missed It (ICYMI) cleantech news blog posts. These blog posts feature some of the most interesting, compelling and/or impactful cleantech news of the week.

This week’s highlights include Hawaii’s state legislature voting to make electricity generation 100 percent renewable by 2045, predictions that current solar panel technology will be capable of generating multi-terawatt-scale power by 2050 and a report finding that renewable energy adoption in the world’s emerging economies is growing nearly twice as fast as in industrialized nations.

Here are some of the top stories in cleantech this week:

· HAWAII: Greentech Media’s Julia Pyper reported that Hawaii’s state legislature voted to make electricity generation 100 percent renewable by 2045.

· SOLAR: Megan Treacy of Tree Hugger wrote that current solar panel technology will be capable of generating multi-terawatt-scale power by 2050.

· OIL: According to CNBC’s Abigail Stevenson, T. Boone Pickens, one of the most influential people in the oil industry, predicted that companies will ultimately make the switch to clean energy.

· RENEWABLES: Laurie Guevara-Stone of Greenbiz wrote about a recent report finding that renewable energy adoption is growing in the world’s emerging economies nearly twice as fast as in industrialized nations.

· WIND: Forbes’ Niall McCarthy reported that wind energy surpassed nuclear for the very first time in 2012 to become China’s third largest source of electricity, after coal and hydro-electric power.
