There will be no gender equality without financial parity. The latest research says incentive pay is the biggest discrepancy between men and women’s compensations, but really, what we are doing is putting a ceiling on women’s financial opportunity through industry accepted biases or biased decision makers. The trial has been another wake up call to our backyard, resonating with women and conscientious industries everywhere, and clarifying what discrimination may look like today. In Silicon Valley, we have a NIMBY (not-in-my-backyard) attitude for so many things; it’s time companies collectively step up and recognize how discrimination impacts innovation, business, but most importantly, people and their quality of life.
