We know, 2020 has been difficult for everyone.

Here in Melbourne, we have a lot of good things in life, so we can’t complain too much. However, our specific brand of lockdown has left us home alone for what feels like a very long time.

Engagement is a crucial part of working at Easygo — we want our people to love being here!

We have successfully integrated new team members without being able to take them out for lunch, formed friendships and working relationships with people we have never met, and bonded digitally over something that unites many of us: sport.

Our team have enjoyed using video conferencing to compete in quizzes and game-show style social events, or playing the most recent smash-hit isolation game, Among Us. Working and engaging digitally is not impossible, but people were desperate to get out and have some more traditional fun, which has been off-limits for some time.

Until just a few days ago.

As soon as we were informed by our State Government that restaurants and sporting fields were opening up, the Easygo team was buzzing, and it was time to start planning.

Should we organise a beach day? What about a big company breakfast or picnic to celebrate? We settled on a real classic: football, then a pub dinner.

Socially distanced, non-contact Soccer, that is! And we had a ball — pun intended.

It was your typical school lunch-time setup. Team captains made their choices, we built our own small pitch, and kicked off. It was like we had never missed a step, aside from the poor touch, lack of fitness, and general absence of skill. On this day, it was not about footballing prowess, but about fun.

The jury is still out on who won, but it was clear that everyone had a great time and would be out of action physically for several days afterward, so it was time to move on. We headed down the road to an iconic beachside pub to enjoy our pots and parmas, and all was well.

We are thrilled to be able to socialise and work together in person, and look forward to an exciting Summer heading into 2021 at Easygo!
